If you're a teacher, go with it. As farsighted as they learn, you get done your job. So what if you must buy an aspirin or two from sentence to time.Recently, I tried this experiment in one of my classes and it went over big time. I gave them the lyrics to the hit song Drops of Jupiter by Rail and I accomplished ten times what I would receive with a Shakespearean sonnet. When we were done, my students wrote some fantastic analyses on a Shakespearean sonnet. The problem: I studied Shakespeare, but Train leaves me to my own devices. I love the song, and I believe I did a fairly good job with my interpretation, but I have nothing for granted. So please help me out. Below I have posted the lyrics to the song. According to my kids, there are multiple meanings. What is your interpretation? Now that she's back in the atmosphereWith drops of Jupiter in her hair, heyShe acts like summer and walks like rainReminds me that there's a time to change, hey Since the proceeds from her stop on the moonShe listens like form and she talks like June, hey, hey But say me, did you sail across the sun?Did you do it to the Milky WayTo see the lights all fadedAnd that paradise is overrated?Tell me, did you come for a shooting star? One without a permanent scarAnd then you missed meWhile you were looking for yourself out there? Now that she's back from that soul vacationTracing her way through the constellation, hey She checks out Mozart while she does Tae-BoReminds me that there's room to grow, heyNow that she's back in the atmosphereI'm afraid that she might consider of me asPlain ol' Jane told a tale about a manWho was too afraid to fly so he never did landBut tell me, did the wind sweep you off your feet?Did you finally get the chanceTo dance on the fall of dayAnd head back to the Milky Way?And tell me, did Venus blow your mind? Was it everything you wanted to find? And then you missed meWhile you were looking for yourself out thereCan you think no love, pride, deep-fried chickenYour best friend always sticking up for youEven when I recognise you're wrong? Can you think no first dance, freeze-dried romanceFive-hour phone conversationThe best soy latte that you always had, and me?But tell me, did the wind sweep you off your feet?Did you eventually get the chanceTo dance along the light of dayAnd head back toward the Milky Way?But tell me, did you sail across the sun?Did you do it to the Milky WayTo see the lights all fadedAnd that paradise is overrated? And tell me, did you come for a shooting star? One without a permanent scarAnd then you missed meWhile you were looking for yourself? And did you eventually get the chanceTo dance on the fall of day?And did you fall for a shooting star?Fall for a shooting star? And now you're lonely looking for yourself out there
